Lakeland Rotary Foundation

Proceeds from the Rump Roast Run & Walk benefit the Lakeland Rotary Foundation’s support of the two Lakeland area Rotary Clubs and their service work.

The Foundation was jointly formed by the Minocqua/Lakeland Area Breakfast Rotary Club (“Breakfast club”) and the Lakeland (Minocqua) Rotary Club (“Noon club”) to solicit, fund, sponsor, and support local and international community service and charitable activities initiated by the Clubs.  The two Minocqua area Rotary clubs sponsor and support many important local and international community service activities and charitable organizations.

Locally the clubs support the Lakeland Sharing Foundation, the Lakeland Hawks Ice Assoc, the Intercultural Leadership Initiative project, sponsor an Honors Banquet for graduating senior high school students, and provide college scholarships.  Also, the Rotary clubs have undertaken several large-scale community. The Torpy Park band shell reconstruction, the bike path from downtown Woodruff to the new AV-W Grade School; and, most recently, the construction of the New Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Minocqua all have been funded in large measure by the Rotary Clubs.

The clubs support Rotary International’s worldwide projects such as Polio eradication efforts (Polio Plus), world hunger relief, clean water wells in developing countries, and the support of AIDS orphans in South Africa.

The Rotary Clubs are very active in Rotary's (International) Youth Exchange Program.  The Youth Exchange Program sponsors, prepares, and supports local high school students who wish to spend an academic year in a foreign country.  The program is open to high school students 15-18 years of age.  The clubs also sponsor students from foreign countries willing to spend one year in the United States and attend school at Lakeland High School in Minocqua.  The clubs provide a monthly allowance and provide room and board by providing three (3) host families during their 11 month stay in our community.  The Youth Exchange Program promotes cultural understanding and world peace by bridging the gap between nations.

Donations to the Lakeland Rotary Foundation are tax deductible and are utilized solely for worthwhile community projects and in support of Rotary International’s worldwide efforts
